Zach and Miri Make a Porno Review

I suppose we will begin with the simplest statement. If you are easily upset by sexual content, sexual humor, cursing, nudity, or people with compromised values; do not see this movie.

If you want to see a porn, do not see this movie.

If you want a really raunchy romantic comedy, then see this movie.

Like many movies staring the ever funny Seth Rogan Zach and Miri has a lot of crude humor, but it also has a lot of heart. Lets face it twenty years ago this movie never could have been made. I am not simply talking about more strict regulations from the MPAA, I am talking about the way society viewed sex and pornography as a whole.

As you may have gathered from the comercials and movie trailers, Zach and Miri is a story about two friends who are so broke they decide to make a porn. As expected hilarity ensued as they attempted to make amature porn with a cast of interesting friends. What I did not expect from Zach and Miri was that it would have a good love story, a very modern and unconventional love story but a good one none the less.

If you are not easily offended, then you should get out there and see it. It's creates a good balance between the sex comedys which are most popular with male audiences, with a romantic comedy which is always most enjoyed by the women folk. I suppose if your at that stage in a relationship with someone, this could actually be a great date movie.

Kevin Smith has done it again, his writing is very smart and funny. He finally made up for Jersey Girl. For the most part he cast was great, the porn actresses gave rather flat performances but thats to be expected. I was glad to see Jason Mewes (Jay from Jay and silent Bob) as well as Jeff Anderson (Randal from Clerks), they both bring a lot of comedy to the movie. Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogan do a great job as leading actors; they have just the right amount of humor, emotion, and for certain scenes awesomely and purposefully bad acting. I also particularly enjoyed Justin Long's hilarious cameo, he completly stole the show for the scene he was in. Although it is a small point I have to say the soundtrack is pretty awesome, I think I was in middle school the last time I heard "Steal my Sunshine" or "Let me Clear my throat, they also had the MC Chris masterpiece "Fettes Vett" in one of the scenes.

Again this movie is not for everyone. If you thought "Knocked Up" was too offencive then you should not see this movie. "Zach and Miri make a Porno" takes a humerous but frank look at sex and pornography as it exists in modern society. If you can take the sexual humor and dealth with it maturely, you will find that beyond all the crude jokes this is a movie with a good story about love and friendship.

P.S. Make sure you sit through the credits, there is a nice extra scene for those who are willing to wait.

"He finally made up for Jersey Girl."

I was thinking the same thing! Nice review, girl, very nice review. And Justin Long totally rocked socks in that movie.
