It's really sad when Ben Affleck is by far the funniest and most talented person on SNL.

Come to think of it I actually liked him in movies where he was playing a comedic role. I'm a big fan of Kevin Smith, although this does not include Jersey Girl or Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

All the same tonight's episode of SNL was mildly funny, which put's it well above the other shows I have seen this season. Aside from their political skits the show has been pretty terrible lately. When you look at previous casts there were a lot of people who were good enough to see success elsewhere be it in standup or in movie careers. I can't see a single breakout star in this particular cast.

The only person who I feel is exceptionally talented is Darrell Hammond, and impressionists don't often get featured in movies. I like Kenan Thompson who was a favorite from his days back in All That. I have really enjoyed Amy Poehler and Bill Hader in some of their film roles. It's sad but I honestly don't think anyone in this cast has the star power to have their own franchise like Will Farrell or Adam Sandler.

This season just seems to be missing the magic present in previous casts, lets hope they get some new blood in for next season. Who knows maybe it will be Ben Affleck, goodness knows it would be a step up from where his career is now.

i didn't see him this go-round, but in the past he's been very funny on the show.
hows about a post on how boring his friend matt damon is?
i don't get the whole "matt damon" thing. other than his work in "good will hunting", the man is a walking sedative.
they both seem like nice guys, but i find 'em decidedly uninteresting as actors.
though to damon's credit, he's not quite as hapless as affleck seems in serious roles.
